Welcome

We are very proud to welcome the following four newest members to the Irving Club: Pete Carson, brought in by Clara Smith, qualified at Spare Time Lanes; Jo Davis, brought in by Harmon Atkins, qualified at Spare Time Lanes; Joanne Johnson, brought in by Harmon Atkins, qualified at Spare Time Lanes; and Pat Schulze, brought in by Lou Kropff, qualified at Spare Time Lanes. Hmmm – seems like we have a trend here. I guess if you want to be a Buzzard, bowl on a league at Spare Time! We welcome all of you with open arms and hope that you enjoy your time with the Irving Buzzards Club! Hope to see you all at all future tournaments!

Of course, we don’t want to forget about our faithful guest, Tommy Howard. We always enjoy having him with us. Hey Tommy, when you going to join the Club?! Maybe you should join a league at Spare Time!

Welcome back to fellow Buzzard, Norma Crabb, who is already back to bowling after shattering and disconnecting her kneecap. Glad to see you back Norma!

Because the Triple Challenge is our May Tournament, there will be no Grand Door Prizes or any other Side Pots for May. Everything will be handled by the Dallas Chapter. The Grand Door Prizes for our June Tournament will be brought by Robert Justis and Sue Banfield.

Triple Challenge
Come one, come all! The Triple Challenge is here! Let’s support the Dallas Chapter in the sponsorship of the Triple Challenge being held at USA Bowl on May 4, 2008. Note the special start time of 12:00 p.m. for the Officers Meeting and 12:30 p.m. for the Chapter Meeting. The tournament will start at 1:30 p.m. If you haven’t been to a tournament in a while, now is the time to come show your support for the Club! Let’s get out there and bowl our “you know what” off so we can keep our lovely president, Sue, from getting the Chicken Hat. Let’s keep the trophy and not get the Chicken Hat! As good as our lovely president, Sue, looks in it, she does not want it! Let’s get out there and show our support and help keep the chicken hat away!

We had Crossovers at our April tournament, which was another huge success! Everyone had a good time, and there were a lot of high scores. We paid out ten places. Congratulations to the following winners:

First Place $38.00 Bobbie Matievic and Ed Block 1471

There will be a special 9-Pin No Tap Tournament held on May 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Forum Bowl. This is a fun tournament, and everyone is invited to attend. Guests can bowl as long as they have a verifiable league average. Buzzard shirts are not required. Please bring cash only as pay outs will be made at the end of the tournament. We will pay the usual one in six, and it will be men vs. men and women vs. women.

Tournament
The Annual Tournament is here and will be hosted by the Montgomery Chapter in Conroe August 1, 2, and 3. Teams are four (4) members mixed with one being the Captain. You may bowl on a maximum of two teams, but can only enter singles, doubles and all events once. The team you bowl on first will be the one that counts for all events. Squad times are a little different this time. Get those forms filled out and turned into Marla by no later than June 8, 2008. Sorry, due to the very short turnaround time that Marla has to get the forms and money to Montgomery, there will be ABSOLUTELY no exceptions to the deadline! Make sure all forms are filled out completely and turned in with all monies (banquet and tournament) and copies of sanction cards. Incomplete/incorrect forms and short monies will not be accepted. Any questions should be directed to Marla, who will get answers/clarification from the Montgomery Chapter. Please remember that squad times selected are not guaranteed. Come on Irving Chapter, we want to be number one again in the number of teams! If you want to bowl and don’t have a team or need people to complete your team, please see one of the officers. The following people need bowlers for a team or to complete a team:

Monty and Norma Crabb – Need two (2) people Pete Carson – Needs a full team Bobbie Matievic – Needs one (1) more person to complete her team

Please see any of the above people if you are interested in creating a team with them.
