BUZZARD CLUB OF AMERICA
HOUSTON CHAPTER NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER 2005 VOLUME XXXXIV ISSUE 9

FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards: Well the tournament is over and done and let me tell you that was some experience. I had headaches and frustrations but in the end, when I saw all the people having a good time and heard all the compliments, it was all worthwhile. Now, if only I can get back to normal (whatever that is). I am looking forward to next year’s tournament that will be handled by Metro and I am sure they will do a fantastic job. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting: Arlen was not present in August so Dennis ran the meeting. Barbara presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Three new applications were voted on and also passed. The meeting consisted mostly of everyone commenting on the tournament and Ken informed the club that the results of the tournament will be announced at the gathering in September. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance: We had 52 Buzzards at the gathering in August, 3 of which did not bowl and 3 pacers. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. The next gathering will be on SEPTEMBER 11th @ DYNAMIC LANES 6121 TARNEF (713-772-1063). The meeting begins at 1PM, bowling begins at 2 PM and everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS)

Bowling Reminder: Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “ roll-off in January.
Also you must be signed up by 1:30 the day of our gathering. Late arrivals are not encouraged.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY
LABOR DAY

Note From Jackie Here we are at the beginning of the 2005 – 2006 winter leagues that should have already begun by the time we have our September gathering. This means that SANCTION FEES are once again due. PLEASE, once you receive your new card for the 2005 – 2006 seasons, bring it to show me. January 2006 will be definitely the last month to bring it to show. Rules actually are that you not bowl unless proof of having paid for a new one is shown beginning in September. Anyone not bowling on a league please see me so that I can help you apply for a sanction card. Men: $ 16.00 Women: $ 14.50.

Note from Ken: There is quite a lot of merchandise left over from the tournament. It will be displayed for the next few months at our gatherings. Prices are the same now as they were at the tournament (caps - $8.00, shirts -$20.00 & towels - $5.00).
