FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

I just got back from the tournament in Tyler and my compliments to them for doing a good job. There were a few things that didn’t go as planned but I think everyone made the best of it and had a pretty good time. I am really looking forward to next year when we host the tournament and I am sure everyone will enjoy. That’s really it for this month, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen opened the meeting and Barbara presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Five new member applications were voted on and also passed. There wasn’t a lot talked about in the meeting. Arlen went over a few things concerning the tournament especially about the times everyone was given and said that he was unable to get them changed. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance:

We had 59 Buzzards at the gathering in August with four pacers. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you on SEPTEMBER 12TH @ AMF HOUSTON NORTH LANES 74 ALDINE BENDER (281-445-0443). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Did You Know?? The oldest, still active bowling alley in the U.S. is the Elks Bowling Lanes in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, which was first certified in 1909.

Tournament Tid Bits: I heard there were a few trips to Louisiana during the weekend of the tournament. I am sure everyone that went had a good time. I do know the next time Blythe goes somewhere she will check the trunk. I also heard Dennis got close to that coveted 300 game with a 290 rolled during singles & doubles.

Bowling Reminder: Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap as well as tell John or Jackie Rugg so you can get a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “ roll-off in January.

Note from Arlen: When you sign up a new member, be sure the application is filled in completely and is ledgable

Side Note: Anyone in need of a seeing-eye-dog please contact Ray Wright
