"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

Well, I just got back from the tournament and had a great time to say the least. Irving did a fantastic job this year and our congratulations go out to them for a job well done. I was informed that some of the phone numbers to the houses are incorrect. I will check on those and get them corrected. I want to mention that on the bracket results, I’m not sure if I read them correctly. They were different forms and hard to read. I did the best I could. I apologize if something is incorrect. Let me know and I will make sure to mention it next month. Also, I would like to apologize for the newsletter being a little late this month. Along with the tournament, my son got married on the 17th and I had so much on my mind that I let a few things slip through the cracks. Hopefully I will only have to go through this once and it won’t happen again. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen opened the meeting with the treasurer’s report and after it passed, he mentioned that our time to hold the tournament is fast approaching; in fact we will host the tournament in 2005. He thought it was a good idea that we begin to prepare now so as not to have any surprises. Since the end of the year is just around the corner, he suggested that everyone start thinking about the houses we will bowl at next year. It was brought up that we keep the same houses but he said that if there were any objections, to please notify the area director. I am sure this will be discussed in later meetings. One new application was voted on and it passed. I brought up the fact that I would like for more people to think about receiving the newsletter by e-mail, as this would really save some money on postage and time. Nothing else was brought up for discussion so the meeting was closed.

Attendance:

We had 49 buzzards that bowled plus 1 buzzard that did not bowl and 2 pacers in August. Hope to see all of you this month on SEPTEMBER 8 @ AMF HOUSTON NORTH LANES 74 ALDINE BENDER (281-445-0443). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Bowling Note: Rodney Johnson bowled his first 300 game at Del Mar on July 16th. My understanding is his knees were shaking so hard he could hardly stand!! Way to go Rodney, keep it up!!!!

Special Announcement: According to Jackie, in the past 2 or 3 months, several people have not been totaling the scores on the re-cap sheets. Beginning in September, if scores and splits are not totaled, those people will not qualify to place for winnings. When splits are not counted and put on the re-cap sheets, there is no way a person can qualify for most splits. Also, many people are not verifying their score and initialing the sheet. Please take the time to do this before you leave.
