CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

Well, there is not really much to mention this month, so I'll make it short and sweet. The phone numbers to the bowling lanes have been corrected and I hope that everyone has a safe and happy halloween. I didn't get the count on how many members we had at the gathering so I deleted that part. That's it for now, so on with bowling!!! (I told you I would make it short and sweet!!!)

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen opened the meeting and Barbara started with the treasurer's report, which passed. The buzzards that placed in the tournament received their money and then Arlen informed the club of some news he heard pertaining to the AMF houses holding our monthly gatherings. A new district manager was hired and began "cleaning house". The rumor is that there will possibly be an increase in our bowling prices. He suggested that if there is an increase in bowling, we could do one of two things. We could either pay the higher price with the overage going to the general fund or go to some of the 22 non-AMF houses in the Houston area to bowl. We need to make a decision by the end of next month so please think about this and lets make a choice that will be good for the club. The cookbook was once again brought up and Arlen informed the club that we have a sufficient amount of money to hold the tournament and it was up to the club to decide if we still wanted to do this. Once again it seems that this idea will go by the wayside and nothing will come of it. Nothing else was brought up for discussion so the meeting was closed.

Attendance:

Hope to see all of you this month on OCTOBER 6 @ MAX BOWL NORTH LANES 2329 WILSON RD. HUMBLE (281-540-2800). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Bowling Note: Anyone bowling a game that qualifies for an award or if you re-qualify, please let Jackie know and make a note on top of the re-cap sheet. When you re-qualify you can pay $2.00 for a Buzzard pin plus be entered to bowl in the Ellie Deason Three-In-A-Row Roll Off in December.

Bowling NoteII: I heard there was some complaining about the condition of the lanes. I myself thought they were pretty decent but I guess the way you bowled would make you decide if they were ok. Take for example, Jean Hebert with a 79 avg. shot a 646 series so I'm sure she thought they were in good condition. On the other hand, Dennis Davis with a 185 avg. and 60-pin handicap shot a 499 series. He would probably say they were not in the best of condition. So you be the judge. After all we are here to have fun. RIGHT GUYS?????

Special Announcement: According to Jackie, in the past 2 or 3 months, several people have not been totaling the scores on the re-cap sheets. Beginning in September, if scores and splits are not totaled, those people will not qualify to place for winnings. When splits are not counted and put on the re-cap sheets, there is no way a person can qualify for most splits. Also, many people are not verifying their score and initialing the sheet. Please take the time to do this before you leave.
