BCOA On-LineThose that are paying your dues on a 6 month basis, your dues are due in September. See Don Banfield if you're not sure if you owe this month or not. This month our monthly tournament is being held in Rowlett. Don't let the distance prevent you from coming. We received a great lineage price, so we will be able to pay out more money to the winners! Come join the fun at a new place for a change of pace. I have selected a few random addresses and enclosed some mapquest directions and maps. Feel free to go on-line and get your own detailed directions and maps from your specific address. We look forward to seeing you all there!
A big thank you to Chuck Ross, who has been handling brackets! Chuck has announced that he no longer will be able to assist us with the brackets as his job may entail him having to miss some of our tournaments. We appreciate all the work Chuck has put into handling the brackets on a monthly basis for us and hope that he will not have to miss very many tournaments! Thank you, Chuck!
Harmon will be taking over the job of handling brackets at our monthly tournaments. We are also updating the way brackets are being handled by computerizing them. Harmon will be using his laptop, and we are looking into getting a program. Dena has graciously volunteered to check with John and Karen to see if they will send us a copy of their program.
We want to wish the best of luck to Billie and Harmon's daughter, Karen, who had to have surgery on July 26 to remove a tumor behind her right ear. Harmon tells us that everything went well, and the tumor is not cancerous. Glad to hear the good news Harmon. They were not able to remove the whole thing due to the size and location. The part of the tumor that is left is too close to the brain. The Dr's will keep an eye on it for now to see if it gets any larger. Billie has been staying home to help Karen out. We hope Karen has a speedy recovery, and Billie is back with us again!
Our Grand Door Prize volunteers for September are Dena Buffington and Roy Segura.
Ed Block, the chairperson for the Fundraising Committee, introduced a new split pool that he would like our chapter to participate in at our monthly tournaments. He explained how it would work and the opportunity we would have to get money back. We will vote on whether or not the money will go to our club or just back to the members at our September Monthly Meeting.
We appreciate the willingness of all our members to pitch in and help when called upon. Everyone is really good about that and we thank you! We will be voting on the Nominating Committee in our September meeting. The Rules and Party Committees have been assigned as follows:
Rules Committee: Cecil Gilbert, Ellen Ruscoe, Steve Elich and Clata Dodd
Party Committee: Sandy Carter, Carol Duffey and Billie Atkins
SPRING CREEK OUTING
We had a good turnout for our little get together at Spring Creek and good time was had by all who attended! A big thank you to Sue's Post Office friend and neighbors who donated coupons. The club paid for all our dinners, and we even were able to have dessert! Yummy, yummy in our tummies!
The Annual Tournament was held on August 4, 5 and 6. The results have not yet been distributed, but hopefully, will be shortly. Our President, Sue Banfield, was very proud with nine teams appearing!
Our special 40-frame tournament was held on August 27, 2006. For those of who didn't show, you missed a good time! Once again, the women show their strength over the men. There were 11 women and seven men present at the tournament. Congratulations to the winners of the tournament: Women – 1st Place – Genie Ross winning $47.00; 2nd Place – Bobbi Matievic winning $30.00; Men – 1st Place – Chuck Ross winning $32.00 and Robert Justis winning $17.00.
