FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

I don’t have a lot to report on this month so I’ll keep it short. I do plan on having another meeting with the committees this month and I’ll report the results to the club. If anyone would like to be volunteer for the tournament, I will have a sign up sheet at the next gathering for those interested. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen opened the meeting and presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Four new member application were voted on and also passed. Arlen went over some tournament info and said that if there are any questions to contact Ken, Dennis or Arlen. Also, he wants us to turn in the applications for the tournament as soon as possible. Since the tournament is local, Arlen wants to see as many teams as possible so as to represent Houston proudly. Dennis also mentioned the upcoming tournament for HBA in 2005. Ken informed the club of the committee meeting held in March and said there will be more meetings to finalize preparations for the tournament. Ken also asked for volunteers to help at both houses during the tournament. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance:

We had 55 Buzzards at the gathering in April, 3 that didn’t bowl and 3 pacers. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you on MAY 1st @ AMF WILLOW LANES 19102 W. MONTGOMERY (SH 249) (281-955-5900). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins at 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS)

Bowling Reminder:

Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “ roll-off in January. Also you must be signed up by 1:30 the day of our gathering. Late arrivals are not encouraged.

Tournament Tidbits: The entry forms for the Annual Buzzard Tournament are in. If you are a captain and did not get one, see me. Members must have 9 games bowled from our monthly gatherings to be eligible to bowl in the tournament. If you are unsure how many games you have, check with Jackie. You have until June 15th to get in your games. If any members are looking for a team or a doubles partner, let me know and I will try to assist you. Lastly, if any member would like to be a volunteer at one of the houses, please sign the sheet I will have available at the meeting.

Bowler Needed: Candy Ferguson is needing someone for a doubles partner and to bowl on the team with her.

Tournament Note: One application has been turned in. It’s a big help to Barbara & Jackie when they are completed early. Once Barbara checks the money with the application, she gives it to Jackie to verify avg. & sanction numbers. Your co-operation in getting them in early berfore June would be greatly appreciated.

Bowling Note: Buzzard members attending our meetings but not bowling, need to sign in on a list so you will be given credit for attending and nobody will be left out. Also, HBA members age 55 & over who qualify to earn awards can also get a senior award for some of them. If you will give your complete birthdate to Jackie, she won’t have to call and ask when you qualify.
