MARCH 2006 VOLUME XXXXV ISSUE 3
Fellow Buzzards: I hope everyone had a nice Valentines’ Day. Mine was ok considering I spent it by myself, but then again what’s new?? I am still experimenting with the digital camera so bear with me. Hopefully the pictures will get better as time goes by. Don’t forget about the change in our bowling schedule this year. We will bowl at Bunker Hill in April and West Houston in October instead of the original posted dates. Also, the schedule for the next 3 months of bowling is listed at the bottom of the OFFICERS page. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!! Minutes of Meeting: Arlen opened the meeting and presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Nine new member applications were voted on and also passed. Nothing was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.
Attendance: We had 69 Buzzards at the gathering in February, five that didn’t bowl and 2 pacers. Our next scheduled gathering is on MARCH 5th @ AMF DIAMOND LANES 267 N. FOREST BLVD. (281-440-9166). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins at 2 PM. Bowling Reminder: Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “roll-off in January.

Note from Arlen: When the club books the houses we bowl in, we assume that everything will go smoothly. Sometimes things are overlooked that cause the house to make last minute changes. These changes usually affect the people bowling and can sometimes cause ill feelings. The only sensible thing that can be done is to abide by the changes and make the best of the situation. When this happens, please understand and support the club in the decisions that are made. Buzzard Club Website -- WWW.HOUSTONBUZZARDCLUB.COM.

FUNNY PAGES AND INTERESTING FACTS
Joke of the Month: Three buddies die in a car crash and go to heaven to an orientation. They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning upon you, what would you like to hear them say about you? The first guy says, "I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time and a great family man." The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow." The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say, 'Look, he's moving!'"
ON THIS DATE: On March 5, 1963 country-pop singer Patsy Cline was killed in a single-engine plane crash near Camden, Tennessee. Country stars Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins were also killed. The performers were en route to Nashville from St. Louis.
BAD PREDICTIONS: "It may, however, be safe to assume that it will hardly be possible to apply electricity to haul great passenger trains."
- George H. Daniels, railroad executive, Brooklyn Daily Eagle, 1900.
WEIRD BUT TRUE An Israeli woman's fight with a stubborn cockroach put her husband in the hospital with burns, a broken pelvis and broken ribs, the Jerusalem Post newspaper reported yesterday. The woman, frightened by the insect when she found it in their living room, stepped on it, threw it in a toilet and sprayed a full can of insecticide on it when it refused to die. Her husband came home from work, went to the toilet and lit a cigarette. When he threw the cigarette butt into the bowl, the insecticide fumes ignited, "seriously burning his sensitive parts," the Post wrote. When paramedics were called to the home in Tel Aviv, they laughed so hard when they learned what had happened that they dropped the stretcher down the stairs, breaking the unidentified man's pelvis and ribs.
