CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

I have just received some information on the annual tournament and I will mention it later in the newsletter. I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be at the June gathering so I need for you to help me out with getting any teams or double partners together. Check with Dennis if you need any help so we can get all those who want to bowl a slot. I was told that John Rugg had open heart surgery in May and Jackie brought him home on Wednesday the 12th. He is doing great and him and Jackie are trying to get back to normal. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and let’s hope he can have a speedy recovery. If I leave out a birthday or anniversary or if the dates are wrong, please let me know so I can get that changed. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen was busy with signing up members to bowl so Dennis ran the meeting. Barbara presented the treasurers’ report which passed. Two new applications were voted on and also passed. Dennis informed the club that the applications for the state tournament are now available with June 10th being the deadline to turn them in to Jackie. If any member is planning to mail in their application they need to have it to Jackie no later than June 5th. It was mentioned that Carl Sontag’s wife Rose Mary is sick and to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance:

We had 62 Buzzards at the gathering in May and one pacer. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you on JUNE 6 @ DEL MAR LANES 3020 MANGUM (713-682-2506). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Trivia: Johnny Petraglia, in 1971 and Mark Roth, in 1977 each won three consecutive professional bowling tournaments. What professional won three consecutive tournaments three different times?

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
