FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

Sorry I wasn’t at last month’s gathering but I had something else to attend. My company had it’s annual picnic and there was free food, free drinks and a lot of nice looking,,,well let’s just say it was an enjoyable afternoon. I will have some more information on the annual tournament later in the newsletter. Also, I didn’t get the complete list of the results in the payoff brackets. I will try to have those next week. I really don’t have a whole lot more to pass on at this time, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Since I was not at the last gathering, and my ole’ trusty sidekick did not give me any notes, I don’t know how the meeting went so I can’t pass that on to those that did not attend. Sorry for the inconvience.

Attendance:

We had 60 Buzzards at the gathering this month and 1 pacer. We had a great turn out last month and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you this month on JUNE 1st @ DEL MAR LANES 3020 MANGUM (713-682-2506). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Trivia: What royal decree did King Henry VIII issue in 1541?

Annual Tournament Information: June 1st is the deadline to turn in the tournament applications with the money for the tournament and dinner/dance. Make one check for the total amount of the tournament and one check for the dinner/dance. Make both payable to the Houston Chapter Buzzard Club. Don’t forget to put the number for the dinner you want out to the side of each name. Also, we will draw from the team names for one team to have their team bowl free compliments of the San Antonio club. As of May 10th, we have 5 teams that have turned in the applications for the tournament. Team Captains: please arrive early on June 1st to turn your application in to Barbara before the meeting begins so we can have your team name listed for the drawing.

Bowling Note: Forgot to mention that last month Arlen Deason had 11 strikes in a row and on a 133 average, Ethel Hunn bowled a 224 and had a series of 566. Great bowling Buzzards!!!!

Joke of the Month:
It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year- old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. when the family returned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for. "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by," his older brother explained. "Wouldn't you know it," the boy fumed. "The one Sunday I don't go, He showed up!"
