JULY 2006 VOLUME XXXXV ISSUE 7
Hello Fellow Buzzards: There is not a whole lot going on right now but as everyone should know by now, our annual bowling tournament is coming up in August and hopefully everyone that is going has got their applications finished and turned in. I am looking forward to this year’s tournament as I do every year and can’t wait to see what Metro has in store. I finally got moved so I will be at the gathering in July. The schedule for the next 3 months of bowling is listed at the bottom of the OFFICERS page. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!! Minutes of Meeting: Since I wasn’t present last month, I don’t know what happened in the meeting but I did get some information from Dennis regarding upcoming tournaments and I have those listed later in the newsletter.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY

Attendance: We had 32 Buzzards at the gathering in June, three that didn’t bowl with no pacers. Our next scheduled gathering is on JULY 2nd @ MAX BOWL NORTH 2390 WILSON RD HUMBLE (281-540-2800). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins at 2 PM. Bowling Reminder: Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “roll-off in January.

JOKES, PICS AND INTERESTING FACTS
Joke of the Month: A local community club was organizing a baseball team. They could only muster eight players, and were hard put to find a ninth. In desperation, they called on a new member, a very reserved Englishman who had just moved into the neighborhood from London, to join their team. During their first game, the Englishman came to bat. On the very first pitch, he knocked the ball out of the park. The team members stood there, dumfounded. Unfortunately, so did the Englishman. “Run!" his teammates cried. "For Pete's sake, run!" The Brit turned and stared at them icily. "I jolly well shan't run," he replied. "I'm perfectly willing to buy you chaps another ball."
WOULD YOU BELIEVE!!! Police in Victorville, Calif., are looking for an unsuccessful burglar. Tapes from a security camera at a cell phone store show the burglar tried to enter the store by shooting the lock while an accomplice watched. "It's actually pretty funny," said the store's co-owner, Cary Walker: the tape shows the bullet bounced back and hit the gunman in the chest. "It hit him so hard it knocked the air out of him and he threw up on the spot." Police found the bullet at the scene, and put out an alert to local hospitals. "I guess they've been watching too much television," Walker said, "because it just doesn't work like that."
INTERESTING FACT: First Lt. Arthur MacArthur (Civil War) and General Douglas MacArthur (WWII) are the only FATHER & SON in history to each receive a Medal of Honor. The award has been presented to 5 sets of brothersON THIS DATE: July 2nd 1985 - Joe Niekro earned his 200th career win when he led the Houston Astros to a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres at the Astrodome.
