JANUARY 2005 VOLUME XXXXIV ISSUE 1
Hello Fellow Buzzards: Well, another year has come and gone. What I want to know is where did it go? I guess it’s true what they say about age, the older you get the faster it goes. Anyway, I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous new year. I have included the new bowling schedule in this month’s newsletter. Please make note of it and keep it close for easy reference. Don’t forget to show Jackie your sanction cards again this month if you haven’t already done so. Also, dues are to be paid starting this month. Don’t forget, the three-in-a-row rolloff will be held at our January gathering. If you are not sure if you qualify, check with me or Jackie. That’s really it for this month, so on with bowling!!!
Minutes of Meeting:
Arlen opened the meeting and presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Five new member applications were voted on and also passed. Arlen stressed to the members the importance of showing the sanction cards to Jackie as soon as you receive them. If we have members that win money and we can not show that they are sanctioned, we could lose our sanction. The Nominating Committee suggested to keep the current officers. A vote was taken from the attending members and all officers were re-instated. The Rules Committee had no changes. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.
Attendance:
We had 71 Buzzards at the gathering in December, seven that didn’t bowl and 2 pacers. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you on JANUARY 9th @ AMF WINDFERN LANES 14441 N. W. FRWY (HWY 290) (713-466-8012). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins at 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS)
December Gathering Notes: I would like to thank Arlen and Dennis for the help and suggestions they gave me before and during the party. It looked as if all had a good time and the food was once again outstanding. I would like to congradulate all those that won in the mystery score, 10th frame pay-off and those that placed at the end of the day.
Bowling Reminder:
Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “ roll-off in January. Also you must be signed up by 1:30 the day of our gathering. Late arrivals are not encouraged.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

200 Club Note: There were 68 members (21 women & 47 men) that bowled 200 games this past year. Scott Williams bowled fourteen 200 games but Bruce Koenig bowled the highest at 277. Carolyn Lake & Sheree Poe led the women with each bowling five 200 games and Sheree also had the highest game of 235. Message from Arlen: There is a problem that has come to my attention. It seems as if we are not using all lanes assigned to us at our gathering. Beginning in January, we will use all lanes assigned to us which may include the far left or far right lanes. If we do not use these lanes, we will be charged for them anyway which could amount to about $30 wasted. If someone does not like the pair of lanes assigned to them, see Arlen, Ken, or Dennis. DO NOT go to Jackie
Note from Arlen: Beginning with the January gathering, as you sign in for bowling, you must show your 2004 - 2005 SANCTION CARD. These meets are considered tournaments and as you know for all other tournaments, you must show your sanction card. The way we have tried for many years is not working so there is no other choice. Just be patient if you have to wait. You won’t be the only one and Jackie can only do so much at one time. Your co-operation with this change would be appreciated. This change also eliminates someone from being signed in early before they arrive.
