Hello Buzzards:

I guess that the new Millenium got the best of our bowlers since we had only 44 Buzzards, which 2 did not bowl and 2 pacers at the January event. We urge everyone to come and enjoy the fun and fellowship created by the club.

We will bowl February 6th at AMF Diamond Bowl, 267 N. Forest Blvd. (281-440-9166). Bowling begins at 2 P.M. Please sign up with Jackie by 1:30 P.M. and don't forget to get a door prize ticket from Terrance. Remember our meeting starts at 1 P.M. (In the event our meeting ends early, we may begin bowling before 2 P.M.) Please remember only four (4) bowlers to a lane. If additional lanes are not permitted, Jackie will let you know so that five (5) can bowl per lane. We voted several months ago to only have 4 per lane except in uncontrollable conditions. This allows everyone to get finished at about the same time.

THE KING & QUEEN BUZZARDS OF THE YEAR were announced and I guess that the winners did not want to be harassed by the flock since neither were present. They were Nadine Underwood with 69 Splits and Alan Long with 81. (That was a year and a half total since we recently changed our year end date.)

There were 14 participants in the 3-In-A-Row Roll-Off held in December. Ellie announced the winners were: Nadine Underwood with 6 splits and Alan Long with 8 splits. Second place went to Martha Warnken with 5 (3 in the first game to break the tie) and John Rugg Sr., with 3 splits.

We approved four (4) new members at the January meeting. We welcome Maggie Jones, Dana Fernandez, Louis Welfl, and Rollo Watkins. Please come join us for a fun afternoon of bowling soon! Your spouse or friend may come and bowl with us as a pacer for $8.00. Who knows...they might even qualify as well.

THIS IS A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JACKIE...

Our next gathering, February 6th will be the last time I will accept the 1999-2000 Sanction numbers from anyone other than new members. Our rules state that and it is required of ABC/WIBC that to be a member in "good standing" means that your dues are paid and your sanction number is recorded on your records. You have had since September 1999 to give or show me your 1999/2000 sanction card. December 31st was the deadline. You will not be qualified for any awards or money unless this requirement is fulfilled. Letting this drag out until now is not the way to go. Those that were given prize money did not always come and give me the information requested on the pay envelope. NO MORE!! If you aren't sure that I have your number recorded, call me. If you will not be able to attend the February meeting, send me a copy by mail or fax @ 713-688-6727. My address and phone numbers are on the officers list.

Also, remember that the deadline to get your games in for the Annual Tournament is nearing. Our deadline is May, so if you are not sure how many games you have bowled, call Jackie... Especially if you want to bowl the tournament in August.
