December 2003 VOLUME XXXXII ISSUE12
Hello Fellow Buzzards: Well, once again as usual I don’t have a whole lot to talk about this month. The weather is getting cooler but hopefully the bowling will not. I am back in the swing of things after my operation and can’t wait to get out there and show what I can do again (yea right). I do know one thing, everyone should be getting turkeys this month and I’m not talking about bowling. Just thinking of that gets my mouth to watering and my stomach to growling. Anyway, enough about that. I do want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving and hope that everyone has a special time with their families. Time is short and it’s always good to make the most of it. Reminder: we will be bowling at Windfern this month and not Dynamic. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:
Arlen opened the meeting and Barbara presented the Treasurer’s report which passed. Three new applications were voted on and also passed. Arlen informed the club that the Tournament in Tyler is on as planned with the only exception being that it will be held on the 2nd weekend in August instead of the first. Toy donations for needy children will be held again this year during December. You can bring a toy (for newborn to teen) to the December gathering. Remember to label it either girl or boy. The Nominating and Rules Committees offered some changes and those will be mentioned later in the newsletter. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.
Attendance: We had 54 Buzzards at the gathering in November, 43 of which attended the meeting, and 3 that did not bowl. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. Hope to see all of you on DECEMBER 7th @ AMF WINDFERN LANES 14441 N. W. FRWY. (HWY 290) (713-466-8012). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)
Trivia: What royal decree did King Henry VIII issue in 1541?
HAVE A VERY
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Bowling Note: I have been informed that once again it seems that people are not being fair when it comes to signing up. It would be greatly appreciated if everyone would sign up on time and if signing a friend up to be sure without a doubt that they are going to bowl. There has been a lot of shuffling around causing some people to remain long after bowling is over due to the fact that some lanes have more people than needed.
Also it would be helpful that when a couple signs up to bowl and wishes to bowl together, that maybe some of the single bowlers could scoot to another lane. All in all let’s help each other to bowl so that we can all have an enjoyable time together. Thank you.Bowling Reminders From Jackie: Those that requalified during the year 2003 and paid the fees to enter the roll-off, will do so at the January gathering. In the next newsletter, all persons qualified to bowl will be listed. Your splits during regular bowling in January will count for the roll–off as well as towards King or Queen Buzzard for January.
Many members have not yet shown their 2003-2004 Sanction Cards to Jackie and need to do so in December. Beginning in January 2004 if you have not done so, you will have to bowl as a pacer. In order to sanction our club, each member that bowls must have the 2003-2004 sanction card. Our sanction renewal begins in January 2004 for the club. Dues for 2004 are also due between now and February.
Sad Note: I just found out that Sandy Bugaj, a member since 1999, passed away on Tuesday the 18th of November after a short illness. Please keep her and her family in your prayers and thoughts. Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee suggested keeping the same Officers as last year with the exception of 2nd Vice President & nominated Jesse Aldridge to replace Paul Phillips.
Rules Committee: The Rules Committee suggested that the 9-games Bowled Rule currently running from August to August be changed to run from June to June.
