"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

Well, ole' man winter is starting to make his mark this year. As long as the rain stays away it might be a pretty tolerable winter. Speaking of rain, I hope nobody had any problems these past weeks. I thought about starting to measure "cubits" for my ark. Luckily, my plans changed. This month's newsletter will be a little longer since I am trying to fit all the year-end info into it. I hope that everyone is ok with the way the newsletter is looking lately. I keep making changes but I will eventually stop when I like the way it looks. It's getting there believe me. Also, if I leave out a birthday or anniversary or if the dates are wrong, let me know so I can get that changed. That's it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen and Barbara were both absent this past meeting so Dennis Davis took over. He opened the meeting with the treasurers' report, which was voted on and passed. Two new applications were also voted on and passed. He brought up the list for the Christmas party and wanted those who wished to bring food to sign it. It would be greatly appreciated if everyone contributes to the party. The Ellie Deason Memorial roll off will take place in December and those of you who have qualified and haven't paid can still do so in December and participate. Those of you who wish to bring a wrapped and labeled toy for the Christmas Toy Donation can bring it to the meeting or party in December. The nominating and rules committees will be voted on in December. (More on this topic later in the newsletter). Lastly, Bruce Koenig mentioned that although our tournament is still a couple of years away, he would like any volunteers for the banquet to contact him at 713-466-5480 so things can get rolling. Nothing else was brought up for discussion so the meeting was closed.

Attendance:

We had 45 Buzzards at the gathering this month 30 of which attended the meeting. Our attendance has been decreasing but hopefully it will start to pickup again after the holidays. Hope to see all of you (plus maybe a few more) this month on DECEMBER 1 @ DYNAMIC LANES 6121 TARNEF (713-772-1063). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

Trivia

How many aiming arrows are on a bowling lane?

Nominating & Rules Committe The nominating committee recommends keeping the current officers, although anyone interested in nominating someone for an office should contact Jesse at 281-419-8086 or 281-705-2116. Also they can be nominated from the floor during the meeting.

The rules committee proposes to add a 3rd paragraph/Article III/Meetings/Section 2, which states: "The Board of Directors can authorize, without the approval of the general membership, expenses and/or payments it deems necessary up to and including twenty-five dollars ($25.00). If the expenses and/or payments are to exceed twenty-five dollars ($25.00), it must be brought before the membership for a majority vote from a quorum of at least 2/3 of the membership present in the meeting for approval or disapproval."
Note: A comment was brought up during the November meeting to raise the amount from $25.00.

Joke of the Month: An old man was sitting on a bench at the mall when a young man walked up to the bench and sat down. He had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, blue & yellow. The old man just stared and the young man said sarcastically, "What's the matter old timer, never done anything wild in your life?" Without batting an eye, the old man replied, "Got drunk once and had sex with a parrot. I was just wondering if you were my son!"
