HOUSTON CHAPTER NEWSLETTER

FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards: I don’t have a whole lot to say this month except that it is hot as all heck out there and I hope everyone keeps cool in the months ahead. Speaking of hot, the tournament is upon us and that is where we need to turn up the heat with high scores and higher series. As always, lets have fun and enjoy the company the tournament brings. That’s it for now, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting: Arlen opened the meeting and presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Arlen and Ken went over tournament information and informed the members that Tom Carlson was in charge of making sure we have enough volunteers for the tournament and to see him if interested. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance: We had 61 Buzzards at the gathering in July, 3 of which did not bowl and 2 pacers. We have had good turn outs in the last few months and hopefully we can keep it up. The next gathering will be on AUGUST 14th @ DEL MAR LANES 3020 MANGUM (713-682-2506). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins at 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS)

Bowling Reminder: Full names are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure that the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign at the end of the three games. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for the “THREE – IN – A- ROW “ roll-off in January.
Also you must be signed up by 1:30 the day of our gathering. Late arrivals are not encouraged.

COME ON DOWN CHAPTERS, WE’RE WAITIN’ ON YA!!

Note From Jackie Regarding signing up to bowl at our monthly gatherings, there are too many Buzzards coming in after 1:15 and some right at 1:30. There were six members plus one pacer that arrived late in July. I try to get the re-caps out on the lanes around 1:30 so that once the meeting is over, names could be put into the computer and ready to go when bowling begins. Coming in late, you disrupt my duties and sometimes I do not have the re-caps out in time. Please co-operate and be here at least by 1:15 each gathering. Just fifteen minutes makes a lot of difference. I arrive around noon each time so that the early arrivals can sign in early. Side note: The same ones are late each month. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Tournament Note (from Ken): Everything is completed and ready to go. A lot of hard work by a lot of outstanding people pulling together helped get things done. I could not have done it without their help and I really appreciate everyone sticking together and making things happen. Thank you so much for being there when I needed you.
