BUZZARD CLUB OF HOUSTON NEWSLETTER
APRIL 2002 VOLUME XXXXI ISSUE 4

FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards:

Ok people, I would like to apologize for last month's newsletter. The software I was using was not letting me save it in the correct format and I took a chance and sent it anyway. As you can see, this month I decided to play it safe and re-do the whole thing. This should work better all around. Also this month, I was going to start putting mistakes in the newsletter but I'm not sure if I really want to do that just yet. I was hoping for suggestions from you on what would be a good "game" for me to do. Let me know your ideas and maybe we can all make this newsletter interesting and fun to read. Now on with bowling!!!!!!

Minutes of Meeting:

Arlen opened the meeting with a discussion concerning dues. He stated that all club dues are to be paid in January but that he will allow them to be paid by the end of February. He also stated that if the dues are not paid by the end of February, then that person will not receive a newsletter and any prize money will not be awarded. Arlen stated that Irving would in fact host the annual tournament. (More on the tournament will be on the announcement page.) All new member applications were accepted and to end the meeting, I volunteered (I think) to make a list of members that are having a hard time finding a team or doubles partners for the tournament. So let me know if you need help and I will see that it gets handled accordingly.

Attendance:

We had 53 buzzards and 2 pacers that bowled plus 2 buzzard that did not bowl in February. Of those buzzards we had 37 in attendance at the meeting. Hope to see all of you this month on APRIL 7 @ MEADOWCREEK LANES 2930 S. RICHEY (713-946-9090). The meeting begins at 1PM and bowling begins AT 2 PM. Everyone must be signed up to bowl by 1:30. (In the event the meeting ends early we may start bowling a little early…so be signed up and ready). We are bowling 4 to a lane and if additional lanes are not available, Jackie will fill in additional bowlers. (REMEMBER TO PAY CASH ONLY FOR YOUR BOWLING AND BRACKETS, AS THIS IS HOW JACKIE AND DENNIS PAY OFF THE WINNERS.)

TOURNAMENT NEWS: The Annual National Tournament will be held in Irving the weekend of Aug. 2-4. Entry fee is $15 per event ($45 for all events) and $20 for the dinner dance. This year there will be 2 choices of dinners (BBQ Beef Brisket or Grilled Chicken Breast). On the application (below the team lineup) write in the type of dinner each bowler wants along with their name so there will be no confusion. Be careful and follow the application instructions or it will be returned to you. Include 2 checks per person (bowling & dinner) made out to Houston Buzzard Club. If you have any complaints, see one of our officers and it will be handled accordingly. Entry deadline is 6/15. More information on the tournament will follow in the coming months.
