APRIL 2008 VOLUME 47 ISSUE 4

FOUNDED OCT 1961- ORGANIZED MAY 1963 FOUNDER - THOMAS E. WALTERS, JR
CHIEF BUZZARD ARLEN DEASON

"Let there be no strangers in the BUZZARD CLUB - Only friends that have yet to meet"

Hello Fellow Buzzards: I don’t have a lot to discuss this month so I’ll keep it short. I would like to remind everyone it’s that time again for the annual tournament so start getting your teams together and remember I have the new online newsletter set up to view and instructions on how to access it. That’s it for this month, so on with bowling!!!

Minutes of Meeting: Arlen opened the meeting and presented the treasurer’s report which passed. Five new member applications were voted on and also passed. Arlen informed the club that he wants to get shirts (pullover & button down in mens & womens styles) for the members to try on for size in order to make sure they are satisfied before they order one and that the 3-in-a-row style buzzard will be the design used on the shirts. The members present took a vote and the motion passed. Nothing else was brought up so the meeting was adjourned.

Attendance: We had 54 Buzzards at the gathering in March, three that did not bowl and four pacers. Our next scheduled gathering is on April 6th @ AMF Windfern, 14441 Northwest Frwy Houston, (713) 466-8012. The meeting begins at 1 PM and bowling begins at 2 PM.

Bowling Reminder: Please keep in mind that there are only two balls per lane during warm-up and not 10 minutes. First and last names of bowlers are to be put on the re-cap sheets each month. Also, make sure the total number of splits and your games are totaled before you sign the sheet at the end of bowling. If you re-qualify, please make a note on the re-cap sheet and you can receive a Buzzard pin for $ 2.00 and be entered for “THE ELLIE DEASON MEMORIAL THREE – IN – A- ROW “roll-off in January. Don’t forget, if you show up to bowl in your birthday month, you pay only .

Stupid State Laws
In Connecticut, in order for a pickle to be qualified as a pickle, it must bounce.

Who Could It Be?
At the age of 10, her parents put her on a train with other Jewish children to save her from Nazi Germany. By the time World War II was over, all her family was dead and her home was gone, so she moved to Palestine and trained as a sniper. She later moved to the United States and obtained her doctorate. She became a radio personality giving out advice on relationships and sex.

Happy Easter

JOKES, PICS AND INTERESTING FACTS

JOKE OF THE MONTH:
A judge was interviewing a woman regarding her pending divorce, and asked, "What are the grounds for your divorce?" She replied, "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property with a stream running by." "No," he said, "I mean what is the foundation of this case?" "It is made of concrete, brick and mortar," she responded. "I mean," he continued, "What are your relations like?" "I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, and so do my husband's parents." He said, "Do you have a real grudge?" "No," she replied, "We have a two-car carport and have never really needed one." "Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?" "Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily like the music, but the answer to your questions is yes." "Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?" "Yes," she responded, "about twice a week he gets up earlier than I do." Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, "Lady, why do you want a divorce?" "Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I've never wanted a divorce. My husband does. He said he can't communicate with me!"

WOULD YOU BELIEVE!!!
William T. McGuire of Woodbridge, N.J., was murdered, his dismembered body found stuffed into three suitcases fished out of the Chesapeake Bay. Investigators focused on his wife, Melanie, 34, a nurse. Her computer was impounded, and her search history found that in the days before the murder Melanie had searched Google and other search engines for terms including "how to commit murder", "instant poisons" and "undetectable poisons". She also researched gun laws. Ten days later, William was shot to death after being incapacitated by a sedative. The drug was purchased at a Walgreen's store; the computer had recorded a visit to the Walgreen's web site's store locator. Melanie has been convicted of murder, and faces at least 30 years in prison.

On April 6th, 1868 - Brigham Young marries his 27th and final wife.

WEIRD BUT TRUE:
Once the last patron had left the Cuckoo restaurant in Olinda, Vic., Australia, two robbers walked in. The first, a man, pointed a shotgun and demanded the bag an employee was holding; the man quickly complied. But the nervous robber then fired -- he didn't hit the employee, but rather the other robber, a woman. After staggering outside, "she dropped to the ground like a sack of potatoes," said the restaurant manager. The woman robber is expected to survive; the gunman was captured. Neither was identified, but the contents of the bag were: leftover loafs of bread that the employee was taking home.

MORONS:
In Atlanta, Ga., a man desiring a fuller rear end died when a friend administered an injection using silicone purchased at a nearby auto parts store.

PREDICTION FROM THE PAST:
"Boards of health will have destroyed all mosquito haunts and breeding grounds, drained all stagnant pools, filled in all swamp-lands, and chemically treated all still-water streams. The extermination of the horse and its stable will reduce the house-fly."
- John Watkins, the Ladies Home Journal. 1900.
